On December 9 and 10, the Zephyrus Early Music Vocal Ensemble continues its 32nd season with “Carols by Candlelight,” a concert of music for the Christmas season sung in candlelit ambiance. The program features carols both old and new, from 14th-century plainchant to Renaissance masterworks by Michael Praetorius, Clemens non Papa, and Robert Parsons to modern settings by John Tavener, Elizabeth Poston, Bob Chilcott, and Fredrik Sixten. On Friday, December 9, the program will be performed at 7:30 pm at St. Paul’s Memorial Church, 1701 University Avenue in Charlottesville. The Saturday, December 10, concert is at 4 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1118 Preston Avenue, Charlottesville. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $5 for students and are available on our website www.zephyrus-va.org and at the door.
