There's been a lot said about writing about place, about how a place is figured in our writing, and what it means to really invite the whole of a place into a poem. But what, also, about the way that place affects the writer and the writer's voice on the page? This seminar will investigate that relationship from both directions by reading and discussing poems and poets who have wrestled with getting a place into their work, and participants will also write their own place-centered poems. The seminar will meet over two sessions—the first a discussion, the second a workshop.
