VA General Assembly Candidate Forum

Tuesday, April 23 - 6:30 PM

Charlottesville NOW (National Organization for Women) hosts a forum for Virginia General Assembly candidates plus a presentation on gerrymandering from OneVirginia2021 at Northside Library.

Forum speakers include Senate and House of Delegates candidates representing the greater Charlottesville area:

  • Senate District 17 -- Ben Hixon and Amy Laufer seeking nomination for seat held by Bryce Reeves
  • House District 25 -- Jennifer Kitchen for seat held by Steve Landes, who is retiring
  • House District 57 -- Kathy Galvin and Sally Hudson, vying for nomination for seat held by David Toscano, who is retiring
  • House District 58 -- Elizabeth Alcorn for seat held by Rob Bell
  • House District 59 -- Tim Hickey for seat held by Matt Farris

Come meet the candidates and hear their plans for making a difference in Virginia. Bring your questions!

Also, Brian Cannon, Executive Director of OneVirginia2021, will update us on progress during the 2019 legislative session and what must happen next to end gerrymandering in Virginia by 2021. In Virginia, gerrymandering—the deliberate manipulation of legislative district lines to benefit a party or individual—has carved up communities and removed competition, resulting in unfair elections and partisan gridlock. Come learn how you can help end the practice of letting legislators choose their voters.
