The UVA McIntire Department of Music presents the Undergraduate Composers Concert, featuring new works by student composers, at 3:30pm on Saturday, April 18th, 2020 in historic Brooks Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
University of Virginia undergraduate students interested in Composition and Computer Technologies have the opportunity to take classes in composition with our renowned faculty, in which they can explore and develop innovative compositional practices combining instrumental composition, electro-acoustics, computation and multimedia. They can also take advantage of the compostiion and computer technologies mentors program where they work one-on-one with CCT PhD students. This program allows undergraduates to reap the benefits of individualized mentorship and instruction in composition and related disciplines, along with artistic and career advice, and provides graduate students with valuable experience critiquing and analyzing student work. All participants in the program meet together monthly for informal group feedback sessions, where graduate and undergraduate composers present their works-in-progress and offer feedback to each other.
