Through The Garden Gate

Saturday, May 9 - 9:00 AM

Through the Garden Gate,” the 19th annual series of opportunities to visit local gardens, presents the Sullenberger Garden, hosted by the Piedmont Master Gardeners and the Monticello Garden Club. Gina Sullenberger developed the five-plus-acre property to reflect her interests as a plantswoman and her love of structure. American boxwoods enclose the entrance courtyard, and the walled formal kitchen garden showcases many boxwood varieties, along with herbs and flowers. A well-designed deer fence protects a “working” garden where you will see cut flowers, berries, tomatoes and more. A moss-covered path meanders through a woodland garden to stunning views. Also highlighted is a native dogwood thought to be one of the largest in Albemarle county. For more details and directions, visit: piedmontmastergardeners.org/events
