The town of River City, Iowa will never be the same after the smooth talking traveling salesman Harold Hill convinces them a children’s band is the only way to save their town from the terrors of a pool hall. Little does Harold suspect that he will never be the same either after taking on this Iowa town and its librarian, Marian Paroo. A fun and boisterous romantic comedy ensues in a performance that is ideal for the whole family.

The Music Man is presented by Charlottesville Opera, formerly Ash Lawn Opera, has been presenting opera and musical theater productions since 1978. Each summer, over 140 theater professionals, singers, orchestra musicians, directors, and designers gather in Charlottesville to produce two mainstage performances at The Paramount Theater in addition to concerts throughout the community in June and July.
