Submission Bootcamp, Part I

Saturday, November 2 - 10:30 AM

Here at WriterHouse we’re taught to be better writers, but it’s up to us to get our work out there and learn how to be writers in the world. So, you might be wondering, how will I know if I’m ready to try submitting?

Liza will share her own experience and methods for finding the right places to submit your short stories, novel excerpts, creative nonfiction, and poetry. She’ll also discuss entering contests, applying for workshops and fellowships, and pursuing an MFA in writing. Applicable to all genres, this seminar will cover researching places to submit, preparing submissions, writing an effective bio and cover letter, and how to keep track of it all. Allison Wright, editor of the Virginia Quarterly Review, will stop by to answer questions about what editors are looking for.
