Hello hardworking people,
The 2022 season is upon us and we need to get the garden beds prepped and ready. The month of March will be a big push for getting the beds tilled, shaped, and mulched.
Our direct needs in March require manual labor to work and prepare two 40' x 90' garden plots. The prepping will come in stages. First will be the tilling of the soil. Next we will measure the rows and walkways. Then we shape the raised beds. Compost is then added on top of the shaped rows. The irrigation tape is laid on top of the long rows next. Lastly, we will lay the walkway fabric and the black mulch on the prepared beds. NOW WE ARE READY TO PLANT IN MAY! We will also plant some potatoes in March.
Aaron and Mitzi Hammer will be on site to facilitate in March.
Each family or individual needs to bring their own tools and supplies including:
Water, gloves, iron rakes, shovels and possibly a pad for your knees and tush for planting the potatoes. Definitely wear long pants since you will be in the dirt on your hands and knees at times. Mark your tools, as desired.
Parking: Park in the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church parking lot and CAREFULLY walk across the street to the Pasture to Produce fields. If need be, you may turn in at the gravel road to the field to drop off and pick up your tools.
Chestnut Grove Baptist Church has bathroom facilities just across the street.
