Jefferson VNPS Native Plant Walk

Saturday, May 18 - 9:00 AM

Join Mary Lee Epps on a plant walk at 9:00 am on May 18.  May is a time when it is hard to predict what will be blooming.  We will look for late spring flowers such as jack-in-the-pulpit, skullcap, putty root orchid, and the milkweeds.  This is usually a time for aniseroot and hairy jointed meadow parsnip to bloom, but given our warm spring and dry April, these may have finished flowering.  On the other hand, we might find early summer flowers already starting to brighten the landscape.  Maybe we’ll even find goat’s rue in flower.  Co-sponsors:  Jefferson Chapter, VNPS, and Ivy Creek Natural Area.  Meet at 9:00 am by the kiosk near the parking lot. Free and open to the public.
