With the successful launch of the Indie Short Film Series, an influx of independently screened films, the independent work of which the Vinegar Hill Theatre consistently showcases, the success of the Virginia Film Festival, and the Paramount’s programming of the Manhattan Short Film Festival, Charlottesville has become a cultural hub for independent film, more than ever before. Founder of the Indie Short Film Series has made the city of Charlottesville its home city and the upcoming events are scheduled at the Vinegar Hill Theatre on 2-29-20 & 4-18-20.
The Indie Short Film Series was launched in November 2019 featuring award-winning shorts starring music producer, Pharrell Williams. The upcoming installment on February 29th will screen 6 films and a panel discussion moderated by Nathan Moore of 91.1 FM WTJU. The line up includes Sundance Film Festival 2020 Winner of the Short Film Jury Award for Best International Fiction, The Devil's Harmony, also a Sundance official selections, Regret (suspense thriller), Place (horror-comedy), Baldwin Beauty (comedy)andBenevolent BA. To represent the regional filmmakers, The Divide and Home is Where the Hearth Is are also to be screened.
The event’s founder credits Vinegar Hill Theatre as being the perfect independent theatre to host the Series. It is an intimate location conveniently located in the heart of Charlottesville’s Downtown District at 220 West Market Street. Tickets are only $9, online processing fees may apply. On February 29th, doors open at 5:30 P.M., screening starts at 6 P.M., and the panel discussion immediate following -- ending at 8:15 P.M., enough time for dinner.
