Charlottesville NOW's May program will focus on gun violence and the harm it brings to women and children. Nationwide, 62% of female intimate partner homicide victims were killed with a gun. In Virginia, from 2015 to 2019, 111 women were fatally shot by an intimate partner. Guns are the leading cause of death among children and teens in Virginia--an average of 85 die by guns every year. The speakers will discuss prevention methods, including gun legislation. Panelists will include experts from local and national gun sense organizations and local victim support agencies:
