Gettysburg: Turning Point

Saturday, June 8 - 9:00 AM

For most Americans, Gettysburg stands as the great turning point of the Civil War. Ken Burns’s influential documentary, The Civil War, reinforced this viewpoint, devoting far more time to Gettysburg than to any other military event of the conflict. This lecture will challenge the idea of Gettysburg as an important turning point and explain why so many people hold on to a mistaken impression.
