What makes an artist or a piece of art “successful”? What do we actually mean when we talk about someone’s “artistic vision” or “unique voice”? And how do you talk about your own poetic voice?
In this class, we will explore these questions through the lives and work of famous artists and writers, and through examining and developing a vocabulary for your poetic work. Though the class format will be workshop-esque, we will offer one another questions and observations rather than praises and critiques, paying close attention to shared structures and tendencies that emerge across groups of poems.
This class is for poets of all skill and experience levels who are interested in writing a LOT and gaining a deeper understanding of their own poetry.
