Merce Cunningham: A Lifetime of Dance
90min. Directed by Charles Atlas.
Starring John Cage, Merce Cunningham

An American Masters production, this documentary explores Merce Cunningham's dancing career from his earliest days at the Cornish school to his present work with the dance computer. Includes archival footage of earlier dances as well as newer works, such as "BIPED," that utilize computer technology as an element of dance. Features interviews with dancers, collaborators, scholars, and Merce himself. A rare theatrical presentation documenting one of the greatest American dance artists.

Presented in partnership with The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia. This event is also part of the Merce Centennial. https://www.mercecunningham.org/activities/centennial
