On Sunday, November 17, 2019 the League of Women Voters of the Charlottesville Area is holding a Sunday Seminar called “Improving Early Childhood Care and Education” from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at CitySpace on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall.
Currently there is a child care crisis, both nationwide and locally. Child care is an important societal issue, as children need and deserve care that is developmentally appropriate and working families need access to affordable, quality child care.
Many positive initiatives are going on at the state and federal levels to improve early childhood care and education. The November seminar will present these improvements and also address child care licensing in Virginia.
The seminar will feature Gail Esterman, Director of Early Learning at ReadyKids, as the main speaker. She will be joined by Beth Kariel and Kathryn Dillon, co-chairs of the League’s Child Care Study Committee.
The public is invited to participate in this important child care discussion. Doors open at 2:00 pm; program begins promptly at 2:30 pm. This event is free and parking space is available in the adjacent Market Street parking garage.
Further event information can be accessed on the League's website at www.lwv-cva.org.
Founded in 1920, the League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy. We look forward to continuing our mission with this event.
