The City of Charlottesville, Ting and UVA Community Credit Union present Charlottesville's Grand Illumination on Friday, November 30 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Central Place on the Downtown Mall!
The city's signature holiday event is free for all ages to enjoy and features musical performances, face painting, balloons, kids' crafts, fun activities, photos with Mrs. Claus and friends, City Market vendors, projection mapping displays, a special visit from Santa, and over 20,000 LED bulbs illuminating Downtown Central Place!
After the lighting of the tree, The Paramount Theater will present a free showing of the classic holiday movie Home Alone at 8 pm on the big screen!

HOLIDAY CONCERT (5:30 PM–7:30 PM)
Join Andrea Copeland-Whitsett on the stage at Central Place as she welcomes a talented cast of local musical artists ready to fill the air with your favorite holiday classics! Performances include The Oratorio Society of Virginia, Black Voices, The Virginia Gentlemen, The Virginia Consort Carolers, The Children's Choir of Central Virginia, DMR Adventures, and many more!
SOCIAL MEDIA WALL (5:30 PM–7:30 PM)
During the concert be sure to get out your smartphones and post photos to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using #CVILLEGRAND, and then look for yourself on the giant on-stage display!
COMMUNITY CARES AND CRAFTS (5:30 PM–7 PM)
Kids can get creative with activity and craft tables provided by local businesses and organizations while parents can collect helpful information. Enjoy free face painting, balloon art, and photos with Mrs. Claus and friends as well! PLUS - Toy Lift Charities will be on hand to exchange a raffle ticket for every toy or cash donation dropped off between 5:30 PM and 7 PM for a chance to win gift certificates to participating downtown businesses!
COUNTDOWN TO GRAND ILLUMINATION! (7:30 PM)
Join us as we count down to the lighting of the community tree with a spectacular projection mapping display produced by The AV Company and then watch as over 20,000 LED bulbs transform Downtown Central Place into a glowing wonderland! Immediately afterward we'll be visited by Santa Claus and a few of his North Pole friends!
