CANCELLED--Sixteenth Annual Kiwanis Dogwood Pancake Breakfast to Support Piedmont CASA

CANCELLED--The 16th Annual Kiwanis Dogwood Pancake Breakfast has been cancelled due to concerns regarding the coronavirus epidemic.  We plan to offer this event next year during Dogwood Festival season with the beneficiary remaining -- Piedmont CASA

Piedmont CASA is an organization that trains Court Appointed Special Advocates, who work with abused and neglected children to assist the courts in determining the best environment to ensure each child’s safety and well-being. Volunteer court advocates may be the only voice that can truly speak for these children.

The Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville will donate proceeds of its Sixteenth Annual Dogwood Pancake Breakfast to Piedmont CASA.  Now celebrating its 25th year in Charlottesville, Piedmont CASA trains community volunteers to advocate for over 200 abused and neglected children each year before the courts of the 16th Judicial District of Virginia. Most of these children range in age from newborn to 18, but proceeds from this event will support specifically “Bridges to Success for Older Youth in Foster Care, a program aimed at helping CASA youth and young adults ages 13 – 21.

  • Saturday, April 25, 2020, First Baptist Church, 735 Park Street
  • 7:30 - 11 a.m. Tickets available for just $5 from friends of PCASA or Kiwanis and at the door.
  • Children under six eat free!
  • Plentiful free parking in the church lot, just a few short blocks from the Dogwood Festival Parade route on East High Street.

"Older youth are more likely to experience longer stays in foster care, the disruption of multiple placements, poor academic performance, and inadequate therapeutic intervention. Their life experiences do little to equip them with the skills and resources they need to transition to independence. Bridges to Success coaches provide essential support and guidance so our youth can see the world out there and a place for themselves in it," stated Alicia Lenahan, president of Piedmont CASA of Charlottesville, "We are delighted that Kiwanis has stepped up to help us answer the call in this community."

“We invite the public to come to First Baptist Park Street for a delicious fun-filled pancake breakfast and then enjoy the always spectacular Dogwood Festival Parade,” said Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast Chairperson, Jeanne Williams Masloff.  “We are proud to join with Piedmont CASA in making sure the most critical needs of our children and youth are addressed,” she added.  http://kiwaniscville.org  CANCELLED--The 16th Annual Kiwanis Dogwood Pancake Breakfast has been cancelled due to concerns regarding the coronavirus epidemic.  We plan to offer this event next year during Dogwood Festival season with the beneficiary remaining -- Piedmont CASA
