Bicentennial Lecture at Rotunda

Wednesday, December 19 - 6:00 PM

Women who were key in Thomas Jefferson’s retirement will be the subject of a free public lecture on Wednesday, December 19, at 6 p.m. in the Dome Room of the University of Virginia’s Rotunda.

Leslie Greene Bowman, president of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, will present “Women in Jefferson’s Retirement: Martha Jefferson Randolph and her Aunt, Sally Hemings” during the lecture, which will run 6-8 p.m.

Sponsored by U.Va.’s Colonnade Club, the presentation is a part of the Bicentennial Lecture Series, created in recognition of the 200th anniversary of the university’s founding. Although the presentation is free, participants are encouraged to register in advance by contacting the Colonnade Club at (434) 243-9730 or emailing hln3c@virginia.edu.

Attendees to the lecture can park at the University’s Central Grounds Garage on Emmett Street (for an hourly rate), or the Culbreth Garage (complimentary after 5:30 p.m.).

Information on the lecture can also be found on the U.Va. Colonnade Club web site at http://www.colonnadeclubuva.com/.

Created in 1907, the Colonnade Club serves as the University’s faculty club and promotes social, cultural and intellectual opportunities for university faculty and departments, alumni, visitors and residents.
