Beginning Blacksmithing Hatchet!

Saturday, September 22 - 9:00 AM

Virginia Institute of Blacksmithing offers a range of beginning level weekend workshops in blacksmithing and bladesmithing including the Hatchet class which features every month. All beginning level classes include shop safety, forge design and fire management, proper hammering, and a variety of project specific or general metal working techniques. Featured in the hatchet class are forge welding, hardening and tempering of steel. We provide all materials and supplies needed to complete each course, including handles for the hatchets, as well as safety gear and all necessary tools. We also have a State Council for Higher Education approved certificate in Apprentice Artistic Blacksmithing. This is a unique year long program for the motivated novice looking to develop professional level skills in this trade.
