DRUM TAO is the world’s foremost group of performers in Japanese taiko drumming, having played for more than 9 million spectators around the world. Hailed for its fiery and athletic drumming routines, the group performs with impeccable syncopation on a wide assortment of drums, spanning handheld snare drums to Odaiko drums that can weigh up to 3 tons. A celebration of Japanese culture, Drum Tao also highlights Japan’s art forms of flute, marimba, harp, and more. Drum Tao was founded in 1993 with a dream of creating the best show in the world using Wadaiko drums (Japanese drums), which have a very rare and unique variety of sound expressions. They are excited to be celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2023, performing 700 shows yearly as three teams.
