PVCC Theatre presents "Elizabeth: Almost by Chance a Woman"
The court of Queen Elizabeth I is in a state of upheaval: The petulant, paranoid, potty-mouthed monarch has taken to her boudoir for the last twelve maddening days and sleepless nights, subjecting herself to uproariously unorthodox beauty treatments while awaiting her lover, fending off political conspirators both real and imagined, and reading into Shakespeare’s works supposed threats to her realm.
Nobel prize-winning Italian playwright Dario Fo’s bawdy, in-your-face political commedia careens haphazardly between the historical and the hysterical with a rebellious, provocative spirit. But amongst all the profanity, absurdity, and farce, Fo’s writing contains pointed criticisms of those who abuse their power.
Please note: this play contains strong language and adult themes. Audience discretion is advised.
Due to limited seating in the Maxwell Black Box Theatre, no late seating is allowed.
