Culture! Disability! Talent!
"Making the Invisible Visible" – The Sprout Film Festival Returns to Charlottesville
On Friday, March 9, 2012, Charlottesville will come alive with the vision of film and media makers exploring the complexities of disability experience and the rich diversity of disability culture.
PREP/Parent Resource Center and Very Special Arts, Charlottesville/Albemarle, in collaboration with The Arc of the Piedmont, Piedmont Council for the Arts, Enrichment Alliance of Virginia, and other community agencies, invite you to experience film and video related to the field of developmental disabilities. The goal is an enjoyable and enlightening experience that will help break down stereotypes and promote a greater acceptance of differences and awareness of similarities. This year’s lineup includes films by local students and film makers. Several of the films have been created by individuals who have disabilities and all of the films reflect a unique perspective on our world that is of artistic and entertainment value to each of us. In addition to the films, an exhibition of original art from Very Special Arts will be on display in the lobby.
Festival show times are 10:30 am – 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The morning show is free, with a $10 suggested donation for the evening performance.
The festival will be held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Performing Arts Center, 1400 Melbourne Rd, on the Charlottesville High School campus.
