Va State Fair - Bluegrass Day

Location:

Community-Wide

Event Type(s): Sports & Recreation, Health
Organization: Outdoor Adventure Social Club
Description:
Adventure: "Virginia State Fair"

It's the best of Virginia! Come join us and see Virginia’s finest animals and agriculture, exhibits and shows, toe-tappin' music, fine arts and crafts, blue ribbon competitions and more! Plan now to be a part of one of Virginia's greatest annual traditions since 1854 (http://www.statefair.com/).

October 2nd is "Bluegrass Day," and both stages will be lined with Bluegrass bands and musicians from noon to 9:00pm. Concerts are FREE with admission tickets. The Festival Stage hosts unreserved "open air seating" on the lawn. Seating is unassigned; Concert goers may bring their own blanket, their own chair or may rent a chair at the "Chair Station."

Whether it is the classic Midway – with favorite rides including the Zipper, Chaos, Scorpion or the cows, rabbits, chickens, goats, ducks and newborn calves in the Birthing Center, the State Fair of Virginia has you covered.

Take a break from the action with everyone’s favorite – Food – with diet-breakers Italian sausages, barbeque, giant turkey legs, crab cakes, pizza, elephant ears, cotton candy, fried oreos, and more! Start your Holiday Shopping with hundreds of unique merchants.

RSVP / Sign-up and CostOASC does not make any money on any of the activities. Many activities are free; for those in which the club Leader incurs an expense to run the event, there is a fee to cover that expense (for example, a hike in the mountains typically costs $2 to $5 so the Leader has gas money to give to the carpool drivers). The participation fee for this particular adventure is $20; it includes: $5.75 for carpool gas money, $1.25 parking charge per person, $13 admission to the fair.  OASC Membership is required to attend, as we continue to build a community of outdoorsy people with similar interests and values. If you are not one of our ~200+ Members (ages 18 to 70s) but would like to join in on this and other fun (we have ~2 to 3 adventures every day – weekday eves, and weekends), please click "Join" at www.outdoorsocial.com and/or call (434) 760-HIKE (4453) for more information. Thanks!

Additional helpful information about this particular adventure (such as directions, what to bring, etc.) is available, it was omitted here for the sake of brevity.
