River City Radio Hour

Location:

Community-Wide

Event Type(s): Arts / Theatre / Music
Organization: The Wayne Theatre Alliance
Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

Singer/songwriter Nathan Moore will make his first appearance at the Friday, March 20th River City Radio Hour. He has been called a lot of things: ‘Greenwich Village bohemian.  Poet.  Prophet. Voice of the people. Troubadour. Showman’.  Even ‘snake oil salesman’.  Anyone who has listened will say his award-winning songs take them somewhere even as his innovative one-man show rivets them to their seats. Nathan Moore’s gift is reminding us we’re neither alone nor shackled; that our connectedness helps us "piece together wings." No wonder music critics like JamBase’s Aaron Kayce call Moore "one of the greatest songwriters we have."

Also appearing for the March 20th performances will be Kevin Chisnell, William Hayes, and J. T. Fauber.  Kevin Chisnell is a noted local blues singer and harmonica player who performs throughout the area. He will also be the MC for the evening. William Hayes, who amazes Radio Hour audiences with his virtuosity on the keyboard, will be joined by J. T. Fauber on percussion.

Waynesboro’s ‘Lady of Comedy’, Marsha Howard, will be back with a fresh batch of her latest jokes. She is guaranteed to give Radio Hour audiences a lift and a smile, if not an outright guffaw.

Completing the Radio Hour will be the third episode of The Return of the Maltese Falcon by Peter Coy. Previously WRCP’s dramatization of The Maltese Falcon was turned upside down when the dead emissary from the Pope was revealed to be a petty gangster. In the ensuing confusion, two of the actors were killed. Before 911 could be called, a sinister kingpin of the Russian Mafia arrives and demands the Maltese Falcon. . . or else.

Eileen O’Rourke, co-owner of The River City Art & Wine Emporium, will be the Downtown Merchant of the Month.

The March 20th performances will take place at the Blue Ridge Christian Fellowship building at 329 Main Street in downtown Waynesboro. The River City Radio Hour is presented at 6:30 pm and 8 pm. Admission is "Pay what you will, but Pay."

The River City Radio Hour is a production of the Waynesboro Cultural Commission, Waynesboro Downtown Development, Inc. and The Wayne Theatre Alliance with special support from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, Stone Soup Books and Café, Kline’s Dairy Bar, the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, and Willow Oak Shopping Plaza.
