Description:
|
Join us from 5:30 to 7:30 pm to celebrate the opening of the Kluge-Ruhe Collection’s newest exhibition, ill-like, a collection of works by Aboriginal artist Vernon Ah Kee.
Ah Kee is known for his unapologetic explorations of the treatment of Aboriginal people, and this exhibition is comprised of three bodies of his work. In addition to large, poetic textworks for which the artist is known, ill-like is also composed of loose drawings of heads from a series called unwritten, and a new series of drawings of the human torso, called lynchings, which will have its world premiere in this exhibition.
In conjuction with Martin Luther King, Jr.‘s birthday in January and Black History Month in February, the Kluge-Ruhe Collection is pleased to present Ah Kee’s work, which celebrates diversity and culture while openly confronting issues of race and discrimination.
