The 26th annual Kiwanis Independence Day 5K Race benefiting Camp Holiday Trails will take place on Saturday morning, July 4, at Forest Lakes North Subdivision starting at 7:30 a.m. The Charlottesville Track Club and Better Living Inc. are teaming up with Kiwanis to raise money for and increase awareness about this unique summer camp for children with special health needs. Some of the area's fastest 5K times are recorded at this race and more than 300 runners of all ages participate. Entire families have made this race an annual holiday tradition. The Kiwanis Club has been serving the children of Charlottesville and the world for over 87 years. The club sponsors Key Clubs at 6 area high schools, a CKI club at UVA, and a Builder's Club at Jack Jouett Middle School inspiring nearly 400 youth in the qualities of leadership and community service.
