"Highlights from the Collection: From Rodin to Warhol" opens today and will be on view through July 11.
The Museum's collection numbers over 12,000 objects from ancient art through art of the 21st century. For this exhibition, curators and area specialists have chosen objects that highlight the strengths and diversity of the collection in each of its collecting areas. Objects from the Ancient, African, Asian, Kluge-Ruhe, and pre-Colombian collections will be on view in the Museum's Object Study Gallery. Significant works will be on display throughout the Museum, providing visitors an opportunity to connect with and experience the breadth of the collection. The installation will encourage the consideration of art practice across time and inspire moments for comparison between cultures.
The exhibition is sponsored by Arts$, The Hook, and Albemarle Magazine.
The Museum is free and open to the public every Tuesday-Sunday, 12-5 pm.
